MERRY CHRISTMAS!

On December, 25 people in Britain, Germany, the USA and some other countries celebrate Christmas. Christmas is the most important holiday of the year. People decorate their houses with Christmas tree, small colored fairy lights, leaves and berries from holly trees and mistletoe bushes, tinsel and ornaments. They usually put an angel at the top of the Christmas tree.
Christmas is a time for many people to give and receive gifts and cards and prepare special meals. Traditionally people in Britain eat roast turkey, Christmas cake, Christmas pudding and mince pies.
Many churches hold special services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  At the church nativity scene is arranged which illustrates the story of Jesus' birth using statues or actors and live animals. At Christmas people usually sing carols – Christmas songs. Here you can watch a Christmas nativity scene  at San Antonio, Texas and listen to a Christmas carol.

Many people spend Christmas Day with family members, with whom they exchange gifts and cards. Many children wake up to find a sock or stocking filled with small gifts on their bed or at the fireplace. These presents have supposedly been brought by Father Christmas, who lives for most of the year at the North Pole. In the USA this magic hero is Santa Claus.
Father Christmas travels in a sleigh pulled by reindeer and enters houses by climbing down the chimney. Children write letters to him, he reads them and puts presents into stockings for good boys and girls. Father Christmas hopes to enjoy a small snack of mince pies and milk at each house. Traditionally people spend Christmas at home, they play games and have a lot of fun. You can also have some fun visiting this web-site:  http://www.merry-christmas.com/
